A size matrix that actually works
A womenswear collection typically runs 8–14 sizes (XS to XXXL or numeric 34–50), often combined with 4–6 colourways per style. A single "product" rapidly becomes 50+ variants — and if every variant needs orderable stock with its own SKU, it's a nightmare in a generic platform.
BrandGate stores the size matrix as structured data: a product has a set of sizes and colours, and the system creates variants automatically. When a retailer logs in to order a dress, they see a row per colour with a column per size, and enter quantities directly into the grid. Sold out in a size? That cell is greyed. Add-to-cart pulls every row in one move.
The feature also handles size ranges (e.g. "only S–L for the outlet colour") and pack sizes (must order in 6-packs).
